Community

When I think about the last few years of my “running life”, all of my best memories are those with my Moms Run This Town (MRTT) Group. We may have started as a running group, but we’ve morphed into our own community.

4 1/2 years ago I was looking for some running buddies and had heard about MRTT in a neighboring town. After doing some investigating, I spontaneously decided to start my own MRTT Chapter. I knew other running moms were out and I was determined to find them. Find them I did! Over 825 of them-#RealWomen of all shapes, ages and paces.

I may have laid the ground work for our MRTT chapter, but it’s the power of all the women in our group that have built our community. The deep friendships that we have formed over miles of pounding pavement, are the kinds of friendships that last a lifetime. Through the good times (babies, weddings, graduations) and the tough times (divorces, sickness & struggles), we have a community that supports and encourages each like nothing I have ever been a part of.

I am so lucky to have found my “tribe”. Together there really is no stopping us!

When I am not “running around” you can find me successfully raising and doting over my husband and two teens in Northern Virginia. My other hobbies include: cycling, swimming, vegetarian cooking, coaching Girls on The Run and aging gracefully.

I’d love to connect! Find me @DeborahBrooks14 and www.Confessionsofamotherrunner.com

I’ve been lucky enough to be part of the Skirt Sports¬†community for 3 years now. My favorite warm weather skirt is the lioness. In the winters I love to sport the Pocketopia and Go The Distance Tights.
