Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation
For over 50 years, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation (GCRCF) has been enhancing and supporting the quality of life in their community through their philanthropy and leadership efforts. Even when their own building was destroyed in the flood; the Community Foundation immediately set-up the Flood 2008 Fund and has become the leader in bringing relief and aid to the affected areas.
One-hundred percent of financial donations to the fund will support response, recovery and rebuilding efforts throughout the Cedar Rapids-metro and surrounding communities. The first priority will be to work with local nonprofit organizations to support individuals and families affected by the floods. The GCRCF is committed to helping individuals, families and the nonprofit community recover and rebuild from the catastrophic flood.
It is expected that 1,800 of the 4,000 or so damaged homes along the Cedar River will end up needing to be demolished. These families need our help; please join us in our efforts to help; every dollar counts.
