2012 Accomplishments

December 31, 2012 · 20 Comments

2012 is over. What a blur! Each year I reflect on noteworthy events that shaped my life. In 2012, I changed diapers, learned sleep deprivation survival tactics, developed an incredible new respect for my husband, and enjoyed watching my body transform into a new me. In other words, I did a lot of little things that culminated in raising a happy little girl named Wilder to her 1st birthday! Without a doubt, this has been my greatest year yet, and I couldn't have done it alone. I'm so thankful for my Skirt Community because as we know, it takes a village to raise a child (or a business for that matter)!

So take a moment and reflect on 2012. Tell us what you did in the comments - both big and small.

I also raised a baby to 1 year & have transformed my body. I walked my first 5k & recovered from a radial fracture.

I ran my second marathon, with a dear childhood friend, and bettered my time by 8 minutes, in the pouring rain and loved it. I continued to share my love of running and feel the inspiration flowing from me to others and back around...AND registered to be challenged by CrossFit in the New Year!

I ran my first half marathon and signed up for my second!

I ran 24 races in 2012, total 1135.5 race miles, in 18 different states, plus one in Jamaica and one marathon in China, I never ran so many races and travel so much in one calendar year :)

I began running & biking. I participated in my first event ever, a team duathlon, then did my first individual duathlon, 5k and 10k. I overcame set backs, injuries and disappointments too. It was a great year and I look forward to bigger challenges in 2013. Thanks Skirts Sports for covering my assets along the way ;)

Like Pamela, I ran my first half-marathon and signed up for my second one, and did my best to encourage all of my friends to begin/continue exercise programs of their own choosing.

I did many races this year, but the thing I'm most proud of is submitting my final payment today to my credit card company. I went from owing $4200 to $0 this year. Now it's on to purchasing my first home, becoming a foster parent, and training for my first 70.3 triathlon ('cause apparently I've decided I'm a glutton for punishment and can't do any one of those things on their own). LOL! Thanks for sharing your journey with us. You're an inspiration.

I sent my first born off to college, turned 50, and began dabbling with veganism with my 'baby' who turned 15.

Had a great skirt year 2012 myself... finished my first ironman and two halfes, turned 40 and taught my kids to ride their bikes for my long runs. also: just checked my closets for SKIRT material: a fascniating 8 skirts, 6 capris, 5 dresses (wonders and no wonders) and the rest (long, short, under, winter, etc...) . Let's go 2013! One hour to midnight over here! Nicole and Skirtsteam: you rock! All the best, Tanya from Slovenia

I trained for 8 weeks and did my first triathlon at age 58.

Like so many before me - I ran my first half marathon and turned 44. I LOVEd the race, it was an all women's trail run here in San Diego put on by SheRuns. I didn't train for it per se, but I had been running up to 14 miles at least once a month - with +/- 20 miles consistently each week for about a year. I finished in 2:10 and the race made me wonder how I would do if I REALLY trained for it! I ran in my gym girl ultra and felt great the entire way!

I racewalked my 7th marathon (Chicago), in a skirt, and took almost 30 minutes off my previous fastest time. I did the training while raising money for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It was a great year.

I ran 6 half marathons in 6 weeks (I skipped a week, and ran two back to back) after being out for 8 weeks with injuries that started with a bike crash. Sad face. I finished off 2012 with a run to the Krispy Kreme Donuts about 21 miles away. My last long run before AZ Rock n Roll Marathon next month. I managed 973 running miles and 1135 biking miles. You all inspire me.

I am learning to be patient with my body as it heals from a pulled hip muscle nearly two months ago. Through this injury I have been reminded about why I love running so much and the blessings it has brought me in 9 years!

I ran a few half marathons, ran 2 10K races-one of which I set a PR at, and I set a PR in a 5K race! It was a good year-I challenged my mind and body in ways I never thought possible!

I participated in my first two team triathlons, doing the cycling leg, and exceeded expectations. Logged 12,000 miles on the bike. Most importantly, helped a number of men and women ride their longest distances ever - several their first century ride, and one a double century. Eager to see who I can inspire in 2013, as your stories encourage me to give more!

I gave back to my community while giving back to myself and ran 21 charity 5K's in 2012! Look out 2013 :)
