SkirtSports Launches Registration for 2008 SkirtChaser Race Series

SkirtSports, creators of the original fitness skirt, have announced open registration for their races in Tempe, AZ, Raleigh, NC, and Chicago, IL. These are the first three of seven cities to host the SkirtChaser 5K Race Series in 2008. Created as a fun mixer, the SkirtChaser Race Series is designed for men and women who like to “run hard and play hard.” Each event will kick off with an all-women’s start, followed by a men’s “skirt chaser” start three minutes later and will conclude with a post-race block party and fashion show featuring a live band.
Designed as an edgy and sexy fitness event, the SkirtChaser brings attendees together for competition, socializing, and to celebrate running at a unique venue. Launched last month in Austin, the race brought out hundreds of Skirts and SkirtChasers and was filled with pros, local joes, and those who thought it would be a great party.
“The SkirtChaser 5K is unlike any other race because SkirtSports works to make running more than just a competition…our goal is make it fun,” said Meg Gill, Project Manager of SkirtSports. “We want to bring both women and men together to celebrate fitness and socialize in an atmosphere that is friendly and encouraging.”
All race participants receive a SkirtSports skirt (women) and SkirtChaser tee (men) with their entry fee, a pair of DeFeet high-performance socks, as well as a free drink ticket to use at the post-race happy hour. Other 2008 SkirtChaser Race series sponsors include: Red Bull, Zappos.com, and Dale’s Pale Ale.
“The Austin race was so well received that we’re thrilled to team up with SkirtSports for the entire 2008 Series,” raved Shane Cooper, founder of DeFeet socks. “When we met Nicole DeBoom (Founder of SkirtSports) we knew she was going to change the world of women’s running and wanted to be a part of it….not to mention this one-of-a-kind race and party!”
