Today’s Run This World Podcast episode #4 called “Fearless and Free” features running pioneer and legend Kathrine Switzer who at 20 years old became the first woman to ever officially run the Boston marathon, despite being attacked during the all-men’s race. Today Kathrine is a speaker, author and activist for women’s rights around the world.

What you will learn in this episode:

  • Kathrine-Switzer-1967Boston-finish-250x250We hear firsthand from Kathrine about her background as a woman runner growing up in the 60s, especially her groundbreaking effort in the 1967 Boston Marathon.
  • We talk about all sorts of great benefits of running, physically, emotionally and psychologically.
  • We do a little detour and talk about men. You’ll want to turn up the volume for this part!
  • Finally we delve into how her new movement – the 261 Fearless non-profit organization– is giving women hope, strength and connectivity, and how you can get involved which I know you will want to do.

If you feel moved by her mission which I’m sure you do, you can take action by becoming a member of 261 Fearless now. Go to 261fearless.org to learn more about this. And if you are up for doing 26.2 in 2017, think about joining Kathrine as she runs the Boston Marathon for her 50th anniversary in 2017.  A flotilla of women are hoping to run with her in honor of 261 Fearless, and interesting promotional plans are underway!
